(Casper, Wyo.)- This Thursday, June 25,  the Natrona County Public Library and AARP Wyoming will team up to host a free shredding event (Not snowboard shredding) and two Fraud Watch Network informational presentations that will focus on real-world, hands-on ways to prevent identity theft and fraud.

The ShredFest will occur from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library’s parking lot.  A shredding truck will be on hand to securely dispose of documents and records that contain sensitive information.  Residents can drop off up to two boxes of papers to be shredded for free.

Please no plastic, wire or plastic binders, 3 ring notebooks, food or food wrappers, spring clips, cardboard, newspapers, magazines, glossy paper, black binder clips or spiral bindings. This is a great opportunity to clean out your office files and know that they will not be used to compromise your identity or safety. Shredding your documents provides peace of mind, protection and personal safety.

In addition, two Fraud Watch Network presentations will be held from noon to 1 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Crawford Room. Experts from AARP Wyoming and library staff will provide tips on how to secure your personal and financial information.  Learn about some of the most common tricks that online and in-person thieves use to steal your identity, as well as steps for prevention. If you use the internet or phone to shop, connect with family, research, or conduct any kind of financial transactions, these sessions are for you.

Don’t become a victim – be informed.

Light meals will be provided by AARP Wyoming. ShredFest and the Fraud Watch Network workshops are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the library Reference Desk at 577-READ (7323), ext. 2.
