The Wyoming Department of Transportation has released information about a crash that claimed the life of a 42-year-old Wyoming man, in Sweetwater County.

The Wyoming Highway Patol is investigating the death of Brian Sanford. Sanford has been identified as the deceased in the single vehicle crash that occurred on April 26th, on Interstate 80, near Rock Springs.

Investigators believe that Sanford was the driver of a Hyundai, that was eastbound on I-80 around milepost 100, at 6:00 am, Thursday morning.

Troopers say that the vehicle exited the roadway into the median where the vehicle struck a delineator post and then a cable barrier post.

The vehicle veered sharply to the right where it crossed both eastbound lanes and exited the roadway to the right. The vehicle tripped rolled approximately 1.5 times and came to rest on its roof facing south west on the I-80 south side service road.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Officials say that Sanford was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Driver fatigue is being investigated as a contributing factor to the crash.
