Fort Caspar Museum has announced their annual Caspar Collins Day, to commemorate the city of Casper’s namesake on the 153rd anniversary of the Battle of Platte Bridge.

Caspar Collins Day will be held at Fort Caspar Museum from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday, July 21. The event is free for all ages. Museum director Rick Young said this year’s event would be significantly different than those in the past.

The community event is scheduled to feature living history demonstrations and interactive activities such as pioneer-era games.

According to Young, demonstrations and activities will place more emphasis on the local history and day-to-day activities of mountain men, ranchers, and gamblers; in addition to the frontier army.

Young says that the festivities not only recognize Collins but are also a celebration of 19th century central Wyoming.

Organizers are currently searching for craft vendors, non-profits, and food trucks for the event.

Vendor applications can be found at the museum or downloaded from their website.

Spaces are $30 for vendors and free for non-profit organizations.

Vendor applications are due by July 18.
