Food for Thought Summer Market

  • The Food for Thought Summer Market season is quickly approaching, and boy do we have some surprises for you!For starters, the Summer Markets are moving back to Tuesday nights, and will now be held at David Street Station, sponsored by WCDA. We have also extended the market time, so the Summer Market will now take place from 5-8pm under the twinkle lights throughout the market area.

    We will have a wide variety of vendors selling their locally handmade, homemade and homegrown goods to meet all of your wants and needs, including fresh produce, dairy products, farm fresh eggs, local meats, baked goods, body care products, home decor, locally roasted coffee and much, much more.

    In addition to shopping, you can also enjoy live entertainment, food trucks, cold adult beverages, free cooking demo’s, kids activities through our POP Club for Kids and more, so why not bring the whole family and make an evening out of it?

    We also accept the Wyoming EBT Card and offer Double Up Food Bucks that provides free produce to EBT Card users.

CNFR 2018

  • The CNFR is the best of the best in college rodeo. It is where the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association crowns individual event champions in saddle bronc riding, bare back riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping, and goat tying. National team championships are also awarded to both men’s and women’s teams. Over 400 cowboys and cowgirls from over 100 universities and colleges compete in Casper each year. Contestants compete all year in one of the NIRA’s 11 regions for a chance to rope or ride at the CNFR.
    The top three students in each event, and top two men’s and women’s teams from the NIRA’s 11 regions will qualify for the CNFR. Night performances start Tuesday at 7:00.

Drop in, Drink and Discuss: Natrona County Public Lands at Frontier Brewing Company

  • From 5:30 to 7:30. The future of Natrona County public lands is on the line, and it’s time for you to weigh in!

    Join us to get updates on the package of management recommendations made by the Natrona County Public Lands Initiative in cooperation with the Natrona County Commission.

    The recommendations are for Sweetwater Rocks—a complex of wilderness study areas split between Fremont and Natrona counties. Sweetwater Rocks includes Lankin Dome, Split Rock, Miller Springs, and Savage Peak.

    We’ll provide the first round of drinks and snacks, you provide the public comment. We’ll discuss the detailed management proposals and help you craft meaningful comments for the committee. Your involvement is crucial in helping determine the future of these special wild places.

Creation Station Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at the Library

  • The Natrona County Library is proud to announce the Grand Opening of its new Creation Station on June 12, 2018 at 12 noon at 307 East Second Street with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to the public at large. Community members and media are encouraged to visit the space, experiment with the various tools and equipment, and speak with staff about the exciting new programs the space will support for Natrona County residents. Hors d’oeuvres will be provided. Casper Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will be in attendance.

    A perfect example of the many ways our community can work together, the Creation Station will be a flexible workspace for individuals and small groups to share STEAM-related (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) supplies and equipment to bring their inventions and creations to life. The Creation Station will serve as an idea lab and creation space for individuals to explore their creativity and cultivate their imaginations in interactive, hands-on ways. Natrona County Library staff will provide instruction in the space to support learning, inspire creativity, and nurture opportunities for the next entrepreneur, inventor, or artist to emerge. They will also use the space to enhance and expand the library’s existing programs for all ages.

    Featuring worktables and cutting-edge equipment and software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Carvey 3D Carving machine, Cricut Maker, laminator, sewing machine, serger, and embroidery machine, the Library’s Creation Station will be a community makerspace, where people with shared ideas and interests can work together on a variety of projects. Kids also will have access to STEAM-related toys and equipment like a Q-Ba Maze, Cubelets, Snap Circuits, Think and Learn Code-a-Pillar, and LEGOs.

    The Creation Station was made possible with funding from the Natrona County Library Foundation, Friends of the Natrona County Library, Kelley Foundation, Wyoming Community Foundation’s McMurry Library Endowment, Ruth R. Ellbogen Foundation, Rocky Mountain Power Foundation, and Hooks, Stitch, and Tea.

Drum Safari at the Library 

  • Drum Safari will present a series of shows for kids at the Natrona County Library on Tuesday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Seating is limited, so plan to arrive early. Tickets will be handed out starting one hour prior to each performance.

Yoga on the Labyrinth 

  • Join Meg Sundell for her first Yoga on The Labyrinth class. Bring a mat and water. Please bring $10 to pay the teachers and a nonperishable food item for Wyoming Food for Thought Project. 14 and under are free. You must sign a waiver to participate and to be entered in prize drawings from local business partners. Downtown Tuesdays will be awesome. We encourage you to bike, walk, ride, or even kayak to class. And, make sure you hit the Farmer’s Market at its new location at David Street Station. FAB Hockey 

  • The Casper Ice Arena is excited to introduce our new Female Adult Beginner (FAB) Hockey class! FAB Hockey is a six week course designed specifically for women who have a desire to play hockey, but have never had the opportunity to play. This intimidation-free class will provide its members with instruction on proper skating, passing, and puck handling techniques as well as basic game knowledge. No prior hockey experience necessary! Never Too Old Book Club: Scythe 

  • A book discussion of young adult novel “Scythe” by Neal Shusterman will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Crescent Moon Coffee Stop. The Never Too Old Book Club, sponsored by the Natrona County Library, discusses young adult literature with adult appeal. The group is open to both teens and adults, with parent-teen pairs especially encouraged. Pick up your free copy of “Scythe” at the Natrona County Library’s second floor service desk.
