WORLAND, Wyo. (AP) — Firefighters have made good progress in battling a large grass fire in northern Wyoming.

The fire burning northeast of Worland in Washakie and Big Horn counties is now 60 percent contained and Wyoming 31 between Manderson and Hyattville in Big Horn County has reopened to traffic.

Cooler temperatures Wednesday were expected to help firefighters.

The fire was started by lightning Sunday night and quickly spread over the parched sage and grass, burning nearly 69 square miles (178.7 square kilometers).

The area of the fire has scattered ranch homes but no structures were lost.

Over 120 firefighters aided by air tankers and helicopters have been battling the fire.
