
The Wyoming Department of Transportation has released information about a deadly crash on US Highway 18, that claimed the lives of an 18-year-old, a 22-year-old, and a 52-year-old.
According to a WYDOT crash summary, the Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating the July 22nd collision.
Officials say that at approximately 4:25 PM, Sunday, a Mercury was eastbound on US Hwy 18 traveling towards the South Dakota line. It is also believed that an Audi was westbound.
WYDOT investigators believe that the driver of the Mercury attempted to pass an eastbound vehicle and collided with the Audi. Both vehicle impacted in an offset head-on type collision.
Both vehicles came to rest in the middle of the roadway which caused total road blockage.
The victims of the crash have been identified as Cheyanne Cummings, age 22, and Lilly Johnson, age 19, both of South Dakota. Also identified as deceased in the crash was 52-year-old Karen Swindler of Texas.
Driver Inattention is being investigated as a possible contributing factor in the crash.
