According to a Forbes map of the wealthiest people in each state, Christy Walton and family are at the top in Wyoming with a total value of $39.1 billion. Forbes also reports that Walton has held the wealthiest woman in the world for five of the last six years.
Christy Walton is widow to John Walton, son of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. John Walton died in a plane crash in 2005. Christy Walton leads a largely private life in Jackson. Christy is #8 on Forbes’s 2015 list of billionaires and is #6 in the U.S. alone.
