Casper man sentenced for aggravated assault

(Casper, Wyo.) – A 35-year-old Casper man has been sentenced probation for aggravated assault and battery charges in District Court Tuesday morning.

Mark Wood was ordered to serve a term of four to six years in the Wyoming State Penitentiary, which was suspended upon successfully completing three years of supervised probation. He was ordered to complete the felony program at the Casper Re-Entry Center and will be held at the detention center until his acceptance into that program.

He admitted to the allegations in April 2015, pleading guilty to the single count.

On Christmas Eve 2014, a woman reportedly entered the Wyoming Medical Center emergency room showing multiple old and new bruises, officers responded to the ER due to the possibility of domestic abuse.

When officers responded to the residence where the incident allegedly occurred, they were unable to make contact with the male in the home, later identified as Wood. He reported to medical personnel that the woman had fallen in the tub, according to the affidavit.

Officers believed that the man inside the residence was cleaning objects, including sheets, clothes and the bathroom with bleach spray, according to the arresting documents.

Investigators spoke with the victim and according to her statements, Wood woke her up with screaming and began kicking her after he threw her on the floor, according to the affidavit. She stated that after he kicked her, he threw her in the tub and was trying to clean her, according to her statements to police.
