(Casper, Wyo.) – Casper Fire-EMS units responded to a well involved house fire just before 10:00 Sunday, June 14 at 2631 Belmont Road.
Crews from Station #2 and Station #5 were conducting some hose evolutions at the old CY Junior High Building when they noticed a column of smoke rising from the Ridgecrest Area above the school.
Shortly after seeing this, units were dispatched for the working structure fire. On arrival units had heavy fire in the garage and attic space. Fortunately all occupants had exited the home prior to units arriving. Crews had the fire under control in about 15 minutes and confirmed everyone was out.
At least one person was treated and transported for smoke inhalation. The home suffered major damage and the occupants are displaced.
A small child confessed to starting the fire in the garage area with a lighter he had found. The fire grew rapidly and fortunately the child was able to alert all the other occupants to escape.
