(Natrona County, Wyo.) – The Natrona County School District and the Wyoming Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) have partnered together to offer high school elective credits to students enrolled in the Pilot Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship/Independent Study training program for students 16 years of age and older.

Students successfully completing the training will earn 3.5 elective credits towards their high school diploma.

Three students started the Pilot Pre-Apprenticeship/Independent Study program on Monday, June 8th. Students’ first week of training consists of orientation at JATC and a 10-hour OSHA certification course.

On Monday the three students will be placed with three separate contractors in Casper. Students will earn $10.00 an hour while learning the electrical trades.

Our wish is to offer the program throughout the school year establishing a career pathway for those students interested in the electrical trades. We would like to expand to other trades programs in the near future.
