
(Casper, Wyo.) – Oil City received a tip that 170,000 depression-era photos from the Library of Congress are now available to the public through a new Yale University website called Photogrammer.
These photos are from the FSA-OWI, which is described on the website as “From 1935-1944, the Farm Security Administration — Office of War Information undertook the largest photography project ever sponsored by the federal government.”
They were taken with the mission to “build support for and justify government programs, the Historical Section set out to document America, often at her most vulnerable, and the successful administration of relief service.”
