In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper is hosting a temporary exhibit that will be on display through the month of November.

This exhibit will showcase photographs from the life of Chief Washakie, an iconic leader of the Eastern Shoshone Nation from the 1840s until his death in 1900.  He was a noted statesman, diplomat and orator.  Chief Washakie was characterized as a great leader during a time when the Shoshones were experiencing great changes in their traditional way of life.

The special exhibit will include framed black and white photographic reproductions of Chief Washakie.  These photographs feature both current and historic impressions of the Shoshone leader.

The exhibit is on display throughout the month of November.  The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tue through Sat.
