Suspect deceased in officer involved shooting (VIDEO)

(UPDATE 5:50 pm 5/6/18) The City of Casper has released a statement regarding a fatal police-involved shooting, that left a suspect dead and a police officer hospitalized.

According to the written statement sent Sunday evening, police responded to a call at the 1400 block of South Fairdale in Casper.

Upon arrival, officers of the Casper Police Department engaged in an exchange of gunfire. One officer was struck by gunfire and is in critical condition. The suspect is deceased.

Casper Police Chief McPheeters also issued a brief statement:

“We have asked for and are receiving the assistance of Natrona County Sheriff’s Department, Mills Police Department, Evansville Police Department, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol in covering our public safety needs in Casper for the next several hours. As everyone might imagine, this is a very emotional situation and the agencies have agreed to help us take our calls”

Casper Police confirmed that one is dead and another hospitalized, following the officer-involved shooting on Sunday, May 6th, 2018.

According to Casper Police Sergeant Mike Ogden, officers responded to the area of Fairdale Avenue and Farnham Streets, in Casper during the afternoon hours, to reports of a police involved shooting.

CPD officials confirmed that one Casper Police officer was injured and transported to an area hospital.

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as being deceased.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case.
