The Natrona County Sheriff’s bomb team has been requested for an investigation into a suspicious package, at a Federal building in Casper.

According to Natrona County Sheriff’s Sergeant Aaron Shatto, the NCSO bomb team has been requested for an investigation, near the Dick Cheney Federal Building, near North Center and East B Streets in Casper.

While various areas were being guarded and kept clear by Casper Police and Homeland Security, operations within the Federal Building and Post Office appeared to be going as normal. No evacuations have been made, and pedestrians were seen passing by the area.

The Federal Protective Service is the lead agency in the investigation. The FPS are the lead law enforcement agency for Federal Building and space.

Robert Sperling, Director of Communications and Engagement for the Federal Protective Service, says that a “suspicious device” was found along the outside edge of Federal Property, and prompted the investigation.

“[The] local bomb squad will be evaluating the unknown device very shortly,” Sperling said in a brief email sent to Oil City News, just after 2:30 pm.

We will have more on this story, as details are made available.
