Casper Fire-EMS responded to a house fire on the 4400 block of Sunrise Drive in Casper, during the afternoon hours of July 16th.
According to witnesses on scene, firefighters responded quickly and were able to extinguish the fire in short order. The witnesses go on to say that visible flames were seen billowing out of an upper story room of the private residence.
A quick cellphone snap sent by an alert Oil City reader, Tiff Lozier, shows the scene before firefighters arrived. Through the windshield of the car, the image captures large flames coming from a second-floor window.
Casper Fire-EMS firefighter Dane Andersen says that emergency dispatch received word of the fire just before 3:00 pm, Monday, July 16th. Dispatch reported that an upper story room of the home was well-involved room on the second floor of the residence.
“Our units made and aggressive interior attack,” Andersen said to media on scene. “[This] limited the spread of the fire to the one room.”
The one room did become fully involved, and all items inside are believed to have been lost, Andersen said. He went on to explain that there was also heavy smoke damage throughout the second floor of the home.
Firefighters say that two residents were believed to have been home at the time, and successfully evacuated the home. No injuries have thus far been reported in conjunction with the fire.
Andersen said that the preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire was just beginning at about 3:45 pm. There is currently no speculation as to the cause at this time.
We will have more information on this story as it develops.
Andersen concluded his conversation with media, reminding people that fire is still a threat in the summer season, and encourages people to check and install smoke detectors in the home.
