
Some preliminary details have been released regarding a fatal accident that happened in the town of Rawlins. A Wyoming man has been identified as the deceased in the incident.
According to a crash summary from the Wyoming Department of Transportation, 67-year-old Leo Montoya died as the result of a crash that happened at approximately 11:30 am, August 9th.
The summary goes on to say that Montoya was riding a motorcycle, westbound, proceeding through a Rawlins intersection. Investigators believe that at the same time, a Chevrolet Suburban approached an intersection from the east, and was turning north.
According to the summary, the driver of the Suburban did not see the approaching motorcycle and the vehicles collided in the intersection.
Wyoming Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.
Driver inattention is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
Montoya was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
