
Search and Rescue teams in Carbon County were deployed to assist an injured sheepherder in the Medicine Bow National Forest.
According to a statement from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office in Rawlins, Wyoming; they were notified, on August 23rd, that a 47-year-old sheepherder had injured himself while trying to navigate over dead and fallen trees.
Officials say the man had slipped and injured his torso.
The call was made by a third party who did not have the sheepherder’s exact location; however the caller said that the injured man was en route back to a tent on the west edge of Huston Park Wilderness, near Baby Lakes Trail Head.
Search and rescue teams were activated, including air medical from area EMS services.
The original call had come in at approximately 4:50 pm, August 23rd. The sheepherder was located at approximately 7:00 pm, that night.
The man was reportedly loaded onto a helicopter and was transported to a Casper Hospital.
Carbon County Sheriff’s officials say that the injured man was kept overnight, however were unable to release the extent of the man’s injuries.
