(Natrona County, Wyo.) – On Saturday, August 15th at approximately 7:26 pm the Casper Public Safety Communication Center received a call in regards to an intoxicated male a the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds who was attending the Renaissance Fair.
Court records indicate that the male was drinking at the Renaissance Fair and due to his level of intoxication was cut off and became belligerent and asked to leave but refused to do so. Natrona County Sheriffs located the male between the east gate of the fair and the fair taven.
Upon arrival Sheriffs found the male, identified later as Michal P Lindberg walking with several people to the parking lot. It appeared to the Deputy that Lindberg was going to get into a vehicle and leave with a person who was there to pick him up.
At approximately 7:40 pm, according to court records, NCSO came back to the fair when they were informed by fair security that the male still did not leave the property after being told to leave. Deputies told Lindberg and found him to be highly intoxicated and belligerent to officers in the area. Deputies told him that he needed to leave the fairgrounds. The male continued to refuse to get into the truck and leave.
Deputies then made the decision to take Lindberg into custody for Trespassing and Pedestrian under the influence. Reports indicate that when officers made contact with Lindberg he began to actively fight and resist deputies. The deputies were unable to gain control of him, which prompted Deputies to deploy his taser. Reports indicate that the taser probes did not make contact or did not have an effect on him.
Deputies regained a control hold on Lindberg and took him to the ground, from court records. It was at that point when Deputies noticed that Lindberg had an expandable baton, similar to one law enforcement officers carry in his right hand. Deputies were able to wrestle the baton out of Lindberg’s hand.
It was later determined that the expandable baton was one of the Deputies and was removed from his duty belt at some point during the altercation. Once on the ground, three Deputies were finally able to gain control and gain custody of Lindberg.
While Deputies were escorting Lindberg into a patrol truck Linberg refused to get into the truck and became combative and violet once again, from court records. At one point Lindberg braced himself with his left foot and turned with his right foot and kicked with a front, ‘mule style kick’ striking one of the Deputies in the upper thigh. The Deputy had a boot print on his pants that could be seen by Natrona County Sheriff Investigator.
Once Deputies got Lindberg inside the patrol truck, reports show that his behavior contineued to escalate and he began to bang and strike his head violently against the window of the truck.
Deputies transported Lindberg to WMC due to his high level of intoxication and violent nature. After being cleared, Lindberg was transported to Natrona County Detention Center and booked for pedestrian under the influence, trespassing, battery, and interference with a peace officer.
Lindberg will have his initial appearance in court later today.
