(Casper, Wyo.) – Special Olympics Wyoming announced today that it has received a $50,000 Daniels Fund grant to support athletes across the state.
Special Olympics Wyoming provides a year round program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. In Wyoming, more than 1,400 athletes take part in the program that involves the services of more than 1,000 volunteers. Sports training and competition are offered in 15 sports. Athletes train and compete in the sport(s) of their choice on a seasonal basis. Five statewide events are held annually.
“Special Olympics Wyoming continues to experience remarkable growth with more athletes participating than ever before. The generosity of the Daniels Fund allows this organization to pursue additional growth goals,” said Priscilla Dowse, President/CEO of Special Olympics Wyoming.
Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television known for his kindness and generosity to those in need, established the Daniels Fund to provide grants and scholarships in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
